En plena temporada invernal, las bajas temperaturas afectan tambi\u00e9n a los gatos, especialmente a aquellos que viven en la calle o est\u00e1n en situaci\u00f3n de semilibertad. Desde El Carmen, en la provincia de Jujuy, la joven proteccionista Caty Calder\u00f3n, fundadora de la asociaci\u00f3n Catymun, dialog\u00f3 con SKY FM 106.1 MHZ sobre c\u00f3mo proteger a los felinos del fr\u00edo y la importancia fundamental de la castraci\u00f3n para frenar el abandono y mejorar su calidad de vida.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Actualmente, Catymun se encuentra organizando una campa\u00f1a de castraci\u00f3n para este lunes, en la que a\u00fan quedan pocos lugares disponibles, y una siguiente fecha prevista para agosto. Calder\u00f3n destac\u00f3 que quienes deseen anotar a sus gatos pueden comunicarse al 388-575-2470. \u201cLa castraci\u00f3n es clave para evitar la sobrepoblaci\u00f3n, prevenir el sufrimiento de las hembras y que los machos se pierdan o resulten heridos en sus recorridos callejeros. Adem\u00e1s, adoptar un gatito sin saber si ser\u00e1 cuidado y castrado puede terminar en abandono\u201d, remarc\u00f3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Respecto al invierno, Calder\u00f3n aconsej\u00f3 construir refugios caseros con cart\u00f3n y bolsas pl\u00e1sticas para proteger a los gatos callejeros del fr\u00edo. \u201cEllos solos se acercan a los lugares calentitos. No hace falta mucho: una cajita, una camita y alimento cerca ya les da abrigo y seguridad\u201d, explic\u00f3. Tambi\u00e9n advirti\u00f3 que no es recomendable ponerles ropa, ya que podr\u00eda engancharse en alambres y representar un peligro.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En relaci\u00f3n con las castraciones en esta \u00e9poca del a\u00f1o, si bien el fr\u00edo puede ayudar a que los gatos se mantengan en reposo, tambi\u00e9n requiere cuidados extra, ya que los felinos pierden temperatura tras la cirug\u00eda. \u201cHay que tenerlos bien abrigados, darles manta y mantenerlos adentro, de preferencia en el piso, en camitas bajas para evitar ca\u00eddas. Tambi\u00e9n es clave limpiar la herida con pervinox, usar faja en hembras o collar isabelino en machos, y dar la medicaci\u00f3n indicada por el veterinario\u201d, detall\u00f3.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Adem\u00e1s, luego de la castraci\u00f3n, los gatos suelen tener m\u00e1s sed y apetito, por lo que es importante proporcionarles alimentos blandos y cambiar, en el caso de los machos, a comida espec\u00edfica para gatos castrados, ya que pueden sufrir problemas urinarios.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
